This is a special page for Hamid’s computer & network setting.

There are 3 scenarios for him:

  1. One stand alone system
  2. One HOST with one POS
  3. One HOST with two POSes

For all scenarios, do the follow steps:

  1. Fresh install Windows XP HOME SP3
  2. Load Intel Motherboard drivers
  3. Load Aopen Modem card driver
  4. Load Nero Essentials 7 and InCD. Note: These two software comes with LG Super Multi DVD Writer, please use Version 3.0 because the new version (3.1) does not provide InCD program.
  5. Set to “Classic Start Menu”: Right click on “Start”, Click on “Properties”, then select “Classic Start Menu”,then click on button “OK”.
  6. Do Windows Updates: Start->Windows Update, this will take at least 1 hour to finish, please follow the instructions.
  7. Start->Settings->Control Panel, click “Switch to Classic View”
  8. Delete “Windows Update”, “Windows Catalog” and “Set Program Access and Defaults” from main menu.
  9. Turn off alerts for “Firewall”, “Automatic Updates” and “Virus Protection”
  10. Turn off “Firewall” and “Automatic Updates”
  11. From Power option, change “Turn off monitor” value from “2o minutes” to “never”
  12. On desktop, switch “My computer” and “My Documents” position
  13. In “Display Properties”, Change background to “Windows XP”; change screen saver to “none“; change resolution to “800 by 600“
  14. On Desktop, only keep “My computer”, “My documents”, “My Network Places”, “IE” and “Recycle bin” items, delete all other items.
  15. Only keep “InCD” on the startup list
  16. Go to BIOS, let hard drive boot first

Now, let work on the second scenario, for both HOST and POS, follow these steps:

  1. set up a home or small office network
